The developers of The Day Before are back and present a short trailer with gameplay impressions for the start of the year 2022, in which the NVIDIA technologies used also play a role.

This is what the trailer shows

Even though the new trailer for the game only lasts about a minute, it shows some atmospheric scenes from the game.
For example, we follow the path of some players through the deserted street canyons of a large city, where, however, electricity is apparently still present.

A shotgun and an M4A1 are used to expertly dismember some zombies, and raids on armored military vehicles and an apparent PvP fight in the shopping mall that has already been presented are also shown.

The focus is also on the NVIDIA technologies that are used in the game. Among other things, the RTX Global Illumination effect is shown, which provides for fancy lighting and shadow effects, and DLSS will also be available in the game.

Nice presentation with NVIDIA technologies

However, the scenes shown seem to only refer to the PC version of The Day Before for now, also because of the features.
That said, the next-gen consoles shouldn’t have any major problems with the display of 4k resolutions and ray tracing effects either.

The PC version of The Day Before is scheduled for release on June 21, 2022.
Versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have already been announced, but there is no release date for them yet.

Mixed feedback from the community

Meanwhile, the feedback from the community about the new trailer is rather mixed. While some express their delight at the slick presentation, most are asking for a full-fledged gameplay trailer and also expressing points of criticism.

The following things have caught the community’s eye:

  • All scenes are seemingly scripted and don’t reflect real gameplay
  • Only the immediate surroundings of the scene that is shown are worked out in detail
  • There are hardly any zombies on the streets
  • The shopping mall is strangely tidy and clean for an apocalypse
  • Some even go so far as to insinuate that developer Fntastic has yet to release a game that is playable in any way.

Given the controversies surrounding the end-time MMO, the harsh criticism is probably not entirely unjustified.

Especially after the disappointing, widely announced “mega-event”, many had expected much more from the next trailer.

Now, as so often, it remains to be seen when and what we will see next from The Day Before.
