The formerly most wanted game on Steam has hardly missed any controversies so far. Legal disputes led to the blocking on Steam, gameplay footage and the release was postponed several times.
Now The Day Before is apparently heading for the next problems.

New name – new obstacles?

The legal dispute over the name with the calendar app of the same name, TheDayBefore, had led to the removal of the game from Steam, yet the developers expressed confidence that they would be able to continue using it in the future.
A return to Steam was just as certain for them.

Months later, the portal Well Played found a registration of a company called MytonaFntastic. This is a merger of the developers Fntastic and the publisher Mytona, who registered the name “Dayworld” on August 3 for “computer game software”.

Since the developers of The Day Before explicitly pointed out that this joint venture would be responsible for handling the legal aspects, among other things, many now naturally assume that The Day Before could return under the name Dayworld.

However, the next problem is already looming, because Dayworld is also the name for a popular novel series by Philip José Farmer, which has already won quite a few awards.
Farmer’s publisher Open Road Media still offers the triology for sale digitally – and that could lead to new problems regarding the naming of Fntastic.

There is currently no official statement on the subject from Mytona or Fntastic.
The latest status is that The Day Before is supposed to be released on November 10 – by whatever means.
