TerraTech Worlds is the sequel to the sandbox vehicle game from Payload Studios. In the game, you build your own vehicle and travel to different planets to mine resources, build a base and acquire new technology.
TerraTech continues to rely on old strengths
The game’s predecessor – TerraTech – has already been on the market since 2017 and still enjoys a very positive reputation among the community. So it’s only understandable that the developers are building a successor based on the new Unreal Engine.
However, it’s not just visual improvements that come into play.
In TerraTech Worlds, you will once again assemble your own vehicle from a multitude of blocks and go on an expedition with it.
Like its predecessor, the title was built with a focus on PvE, because you’ll play either solo or in co-op, but not against each other.
Dangers await you, though, because AI-controlled bandits will attack you and steal your resources.
This time, however, you’ll go to different planets, where you’ll collect resources and technologies to further expand your vehicle.
You can also build bases – from your vehicle, of course. They serve as a starting point and consolidation of your presence on the planet.
The trailer shows different areas, from sand dunes to wide oases to strange forests that need to be explored. New resources and blocks are waiting to be discovered and collected, and the alien technology will help you adapt to different conditions.
A big plus of the Unreal Engine 5 is also that the players can significantly influence the world. You can shape the terrain with your tools, dig it up, and even drain the water out of a huge lake if you want, if that opens up new paths for you.
Playtests & Early Access
TerraTech Worlds will go through a few alpha playtests, the first of which the developers are currently planning for late 2023.
After that, a more detailed plan from the developers will be released and an Early Access on Steam will follow.
