At the start of the new year, the developers of Taviana The Origins report back.
After many goals of the roadmap announced for 2021 could not be achieved, these are now on the schedule for the beginning of 2022.

This is what the plans for 2022 look like
In the new announcement, the developers present their plans for the coming year:
- Q1: In the first quarter, the main goal is to release the official Steam page including a trailer for the game. In addition, the developers want to improve the quality of the videos and regularly publish a devlog. First tests with Patron supporters are also to take place.
- Q2: In the second quarter, what appears to be the Early Access release is planned (“Ship product”), in addition, translations into various languages are to be created and marketing will be expanded.
- Q3: In the third quarter, the first major content update, “Sector B”, is already scheduled for release, after which the focus will be on the remaining assets of the game.
- Q4: For the fourth quarter, only unspecified updates for the game are planned so far.
Another postponement of the planned release
In October 2021, the developers announced that the release of the Early Access version was planned for the first quarter of 2022, which has now been postponed by one quarter.
Although it is always noted that this is a developer roadmap and not an announced release date, the community has already been put off to a later date several times.
Originally, a playable alpha version of the game was already planned for the end of 2018, but was then postponed to an unspecified date in 2019 and later to Q3 in 2021.
After the last postponement to Q1 and now Q2 2022, players are now once again wondering whether it will really be possible to test the game soon.
Wrong focus of the team?
If you look at the status updates of the developers and the milestones on the roadmap, the focus on different, non-essential things could also be a reason for the postponements.
Whether a wiki with the complete lore of the game is so urgent for the current state, remains to be seen. And also things like hidden notes and documents or glass containers in which the liquid inside moves might be rather less critical for a first playable version.
In the last status update, the developers introduced some features that were possible after switching to the latest engine version.
Unfortunately, we didn’t see any real gameplay in this video, either – so we’ll just have to be patient for the time being.
The waiting game
Some hope is provided by the announcement that the team has rented an office where “one or two programmers” and the lead programmer will work. However, these programmers have yet to be found and hired.
In the end, only time will tell if and when we will see the first real gameplay of Taviana The Origins – or when the Early Access version of the title will be released.
