The developers of Stalker 2 apparently have no time to breathe, because now a fire has destroyed an entire floor of the developer’s studio.
However, GSC Game World is still fighting and surprisingly calm.
New setback for Stalker 2
The development of Stalker 2 so far can be described as bumpy with a clear conscience: First, the game’s development was delayed by the erupting Ukraine conflict and eventually stopped altogether for a time, followed by several postponements after work resumed.
After the preview at gamescom 2023 then also triggered some worries among test players, the postponement of the release to the beginning of the coming year 2024 followed shortly after.
Now the next blow for the developers: A fire raged in the office building of GSC Game World last weekend.
According to initial reports, the fire was caused by faults in the electrical system.
After the Czech gaming website Vortex reported about the incident, the developers came forward on the official Discord and were surprisingly calm:
It is true.
Fortunately, none of the employees or office staff were injured in the accident.
A fire broke out in our office in Prague on Thursday. Even though the fire was successfully put out, one of the office floors now requires a full restoration. Further details of the accident are still being investigated.
We express our deepest appreciation for your questions and the words of support we have been receiving. No anomaly, not even a “Burner”, will make us stop in our pursuit of our final goal. We’ve dealt with worse than that before.
This is fine.
To what extent the fire will really affect the development of Stalker 2 is difficult to estimate.
Depending on whether servers and possible backups were affected, it is of course possible that data was lost.
