Sand sends you to a desert planet ruled by an Austro-Hungarian empire

In the game Sand you’ll start a survival adventure on the fallen planet Sophie, where you’ll discover and secure resources and treasures for yourself.

During your travels through the desert landscapes, you can count on your Trampler, a running mech that serves as a mobile base.

The story of “Sand”

But how does this rather unusual setting come about? Well, Sand is set in an alternate universe where humanity has already made significant progress in the exploration and colonization of space in 1910 thanks to new energy sources.
The Austro-Hungarian Empire led the conquest of alien planets back then.

However, a mysterious ecological disaster occurred on the planet Sophie, which threw the world out of balance and forced people to flee.

The game’s characters originate from Galicia, a region within the Austro-Hungarian Empire predominantly inhabited by Ukrainians and Poles. During the early stages of colonization, the Kaiser promised the Galicians a significant portion of the planet Sophie, enticing them to volunteer as the primary labor force for constructing the cities that would eventually belong to them.

The most resilient and desperate Galicians, who have little to lose, resort to semi-legal means of reaching the planet, driven by their determination to rectify historical injustices and claim what they believe is rightfully theirs.

You now start around the time of World War I as one of the daring adventurers trying to wrest the planet’s secrets and treasures – and survive.

The Tramplers

The tramplers are a main aspect of the game. These are giant mechs that trudge through the desert sands. They serve as a mobile base for the players.
The giant machines are a retreat as well as a loot store and fortress.

From the interior design to the energy sources to the armor and weapons, the tramplers can be freely designed.

Last Oasis as inspiration?

Sand is designed as an online PvP game and is thus reminiscent of Last Oasis, a survival game in which the game world is regularly overrun by a wave of fire and the players move around in huge, running desert ships.
However, it is unclear whether the genre colleague really served as inspiration.

The development team of Hologryph from Ukraine is currently still in an early development phase under difficult conditions, which is why there is currently no release date.
