Of course, PUBG is best known for being the grandfather and original of the Battle Royale genre, but now the Halloween event brings a special arcade game mode where survival elements, crafting, and mutants become part of the gaming experience.

Here’s all the info on the Survivors Left Behind arcade mode.

The game mode will be playable until October 31, 2023 at 9am CEST.

Survivors Left Behind

Story-wise, in Survivors Left Behind you have literally been left behind on the island of the Haven map and must now escape with your squad.
You start with a four-man squad and then get your first weapons from vending machines to defend yourself.

Missions

You will automatically be given missions to complete for survival and escape.
The missions here are somewhat reminiscent of Left 4 Dead or Dead by Daylight – collect gasoline and fill generators to then open your exit.

Hungers – mutants with different abilities

While completing these missions, the so-called Hungers will get in your way. These are a type of mutants with different abilities that come at you in waves and try to prevent you from escaping.
Some of the mutants are beefy and charge at you like a Charger from Left 4 Dead, others scream and rob you of your bearings, and some use weapons like Molotv cocktails, Blue Zone grenades, or make other mutants immortal for a short time.

Status effects and hunger meter

Besides the mutants, you also have to keep an eye on some other things. The hunger meter to the left of your life bar changes from full and fed (blue) to starving (red).
The lower your hunger meter goes, the more negative effects you’ll feel.

For example, you will no longer be able to sprint, you will stagger when aiming and shooting, and you will be plagued by blurry vision.

So make sure that all your teammates are always well fed.

Items & Crafting

There are special crafting tables in many locations throughout the game that you can use to craft all sorts of items.

From simple foods like lettuce and water you can make a more effective soup, from many bandages you can make medi-kits, and from bottles and gasoline you can make Molotov cocktails.

You’ll also be able to craft melee weapons and improved firearms, such as submachine guns and shotguns. The latter has the special effect in event mode of being able to knock enemies back and make them stop if you hit the right body parts.

By the way, you’ll get ammo by killing Hunger-mutants, so more kills paradoxically means more ammo.

Resurrection & Rewards

If a team member dies during the mode, you can loot their blue chip and bring it to a yellow PC terminal. This allows you to bring back each team member up to three times per game.

But beware: you’ll spawn back with your equipment in a briefly safe location, but you’ll be very hungry and low on ammo.

If you survive a stage of the game you also have a chance to get additional weapons and armor.
And if it doesn’t work out, all materials and manufactured items (no weapons) will be transferred to your inventory and you can use them in a match on it – so looting and collecting is worth it.

If you survive a few stages of the game mode and even manage to escape at the end, you will also receive three reward items – an emblem and a glove skin and a loot box.
