It’s been over six years since PUBG ushered in the Battle Royale era.
But even though the title doesn’t seem to enjoy the same attention today as it did back then, it still brings in fat profits for its publisher.
PUBG brings Krafton big profits
In an announcement on its latest sales figures, Krafton credits the Battle Royale title with a big share of the record $407.8 million in sales.
In the PC version alone, sales have increased by a whopping 68%.
But Krafton has also seen significant growth in PUBG Mobile, which is especially popular in the Asian market.
Interestingly, however, PUBG’s player numbers are relatively stable and are not increasing at the same rate as the game’s revenue.
Nevertheless, up to 500,000 players are still playing at the same time – not a bad number after so many years and with all the competition on the market.
In the end, the publisher comes up with a profit of $202.3 million – and that’s even considering the fact that they didn’t reach the targeted goal for the survival horror title The Callisto Protocol.
Here Krafton had set 5 million sales in the first year, but with “only” just under 2 million sales, these fell short of expectations.
