Project Black Budget – PUBG developers working on extraction shooter

The developers of PUBG: Battlegrounds are currently working on an extraction shooter spin-off, which is scheduled for release in 2024.
This was revealed in a recently published financial report.

Extraction shooter in the PUBG universe?

After Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown and Call of Duty Warzone have shown how it’s done, Krafton also wants a slice of the extraction shooter pie.
The company is currently working on an extraction shooter under the name Project Black Budget, which is could be set in the PUBG universe.

According to a financial report by Krafton, the game is set to be released in the second half of 2024.

The report also reveals that Krafton is currently working on the “next Subnautica” for 2025 and several other titles that have not yet been officially announced.

There is currently not much more information on Project Black Budget, but it is certainly exciting that several major publishers and developers are now venturing into the genre.
The game Marathon from Bungie and the title Arc Raiders from Embark Studios are currently in development, both of which are also extraction shooters.

So now the question remains as to who will do it best – and how many players of this type can exist at the same time as the current genre greats such as Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown.

What are extraction shooters in a nutshell?

Extraction shooters are basically a shooter sub-genre in which players compete on maps against AI opponents and other players.
At certain points on the map, you can then perform the eponymous “extraction” if you make it there alive.
If your virtual life is breathed out, however, you lose all the loot you have gathered.
