The developers of No Man’s Sky continue to provide their space sandbox title with updates.
The latest of these updates – the Echoes update – even brings a completely new race into the game, including its own storyline, and also expands other aspects such as space combat and the possibility to act as a merchant.
New robot race in the game
The Autophages are the new race in the game that made it into the game since the launch in 2016. They are robotic beings that have their own language, rituals and history.
Of course, you can explore the race’s history, learn their language and find out more about their goals.
Over time, you’ll also be able to collect mechanical parts to create both a ceremonial staff and a complete robot avatar for yourself.
There’s more going on in space
There are also some extensive new features in No Man’s Sky’s space. The pirates of the game are now equipped with freighters and it is now possible for freighters themselves to intervene in the battle.
So nothing stands in the way of big space battles anymore.
And apparently you can even fly close to the enemy freighters and take out their weapons and shields in Star Wars style.
Trade, museum and technology
But the Echoes update also brings some interesting innovations in other aspects.
For example, you can now earn your keep as a multi-tool trader and exhibit the finds from your expeditions in a holo-museum.
But there are also new improvements on the technical side. This time, the focus was on the points of rendering quality, performance and stability – and for PSVR2 users, there is the new foveated rendering, which focuses the areas focused by your eye using tracking and saves resources at the same time.
The Nintendo Switch version of the game, on the other hand, gets new antialiasing.
