With Nakwon: Last Paradise, we can soon expect a zombie survival game from an unusual developer, as Mintrocket is best known for the game “Dave the Diver” – an RPG and adventure game with pixel graphics that revolves around diving, puzzles and a sushi restaurant.
The developers have now announced an upcoming pre-alpha playtest and have also published the first gameplay.
What is Nakwon: Last Paradise about?
In Nakwon: Last Paradise, a zombie apocalypse has broken out and there are only a few isolated bases where people can find refuge.
The player takes on the role of a survivor in Seoul and has to fight off zombies and other players in various maps and escape from them again.
The developers themselves call their game a PvPvE Zombie Apocalypse Stealth Survival Game, in which you start either alone or in a team of two in the zombie-infested zone where up to 16 players meet.
You collect loot and kill zombies (AI) and other players and then try to escape the zone with your loot.
In addition to the classic extraction gameplay, there will also be a “citizen class” that you can gradually level up.
This will give you various advantages such as access to merchants and a housing system.
Basically, Nakwon: Last Paradise could be described as a kind of “Escape from Tarkov Light” with zombies in Seoul, if you want to reduce it to one sentence.
Pre-alpha playtest in the coming week
A first pre-alpha playtest will take place next week, which anyone can take part in free of charge via Steam. Places are unlimited and the test is available globally.
All you have to do is register on the official Steam page as soon as the test is available.
The test period is expected to run from November 29, 2023 at 04:00 pm time until December 3 at 23:59 pm PST.
First gameplay impressions
Together with the announcement for the pre-alpha playtest, a gameplay video was also released in which we can watch various players play for 22 minutes.
The gameplay shown appears to be average at first, it seems that some placeholders are still being used for sounds and Nakwon: Last Paradise doesn’t look top class graphically either.
However, one should not forget that this is uncut gameplay from a pre-alpha, so the game is still being worked on.
After the planned playtest, developer Mintrocket wants to implement the feedback from this and then carry out further tests in the coming year.
There is currently no release period or even a date for Nakwon: Last Paradise.
