If your heart is both for Middle-earth and the survival genre, then you can look forward to the upcoming release of Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
In this game, you’ll take on the role of a dwarf who wants to take back Moria with his companions.

When is Return to Moria set?
In terms of content, Return to Moria is set in the fourth age of Middle-earth. Some things like the endless staircase or the East Gate will be in the game.
However, everything in between will be procedurally generated, so that a new playthrough remains exciting.
Your task is to recapture Moria for the dwarves and prepare everything for a return.

Enemies in the game
Orcs, goblins, trolls and other creatures in the mines are not happy about your return.
In fact, how many enemies you fight depends on how much light and noise you bring to the mines.
The more you mine, smelt, forge and sing around the campfire, the more creatures will attack you.
Survival elements
Some elements in Return to Moria are also quite classic for a survival game.
For example, you’ll have to make sure you get enough sleep, keep an eye on your temperature, and create safe places to return to with a “dynamic light system” in the mines.
You’ll also be able to find and use ancient dwarven technology to get better equipment and processing capabilities.
In Return to Moria, however, you won’t start with a few pieces of wood and stones, as in other representatives of the genre; instead, you’ll get right into the dwarf-typical blacksmithing.
Thus, you’ll gradually upgrade your character with better weapons and armor.
Co-op adventure
The gameplay of Return to Moria is clearly designed for co-op. A total of eight players can explore the mines, build, craft and face the hordes of enemies together.
The singing of the dwarves is an interesting factor, because some songs let you forge or mine ore more effectively or open up hidden areas.
Platforms & Release Date
Return to Moria will be released for PC gamers as early as next October. From October 24, 2023, the game will be available in the Epic Games Store and is expected to cost 36 euros.
A version for the PlayStation 5 is also planned.
