The content updates 11 & 12 for Icarus bring some community requested features to the game. These include slots for lights and backpacks, a sorting function, more levels and blueprint points.
Contents
Seperate slots for light & backpack
There are now dedicated slots for two essential items in the game – namely for a light source and for the backpack.
This means you now have your hands free again in the dark for actions other than just holding the lantern, and you can also carry other things – such as a radar or an animal – at the same time as the backpack (and its positive effects).
Inventory sorting
There is now the possibility to sort the inventory. At the top right of the inventory you will find the corresponding button for this.
This sorts all items according to their weight, so that you can sort them out more easily.
More sorting options are planned for the future.
New Tier 4 Tools
The Titanium Hammer is the newest Tier 4 tool, allowing you to craft and repair items even faster.
The high-level tools will become much more important and take on a more prominent role in the future. The goal, according to the developers, is “a much greater depth” for this tier than currently exists.
Footprints and imprints
Every explorer and every object that hits or steps on sand or snow in any way now leaves a visible track. This can help, for example, to find someone, to track an animal or to find lost objects more easily.
Since the feature is currently still experimental, it is turned off by default and has to be deliberately turned on via the options. The setting for this is “Terrain Deformation”.
Talent point limit increased
Previously the limit for talent points was 48 at level 40, this has now been increased to 60 talent points at level 50.
Also, all talents in the solo talent tree have been moved into their own group, so you no longer need to spend your main talent points on them.
The solo talents now run separately and you will receive a solo talent point every 2 levels, up to a maximum of 25 points.
More points and better ways to distribute them wisely without making individual characters too strong was the goal of the developers here.
More levels & blueprint points
The blueprint points also had a limit up to which you could collect them. At level 99, you could earn a little over 300 blueprint points – after that, it was over.
However, many players want to unlock all available blueprints, and in the future, the technology trees will also be expanded.
For this reason, you can now theoretically level up endlessly and collect infinite blueprint points.
Especially long-term players should not be disadvantaged by this – and everyone has all options.
Planned features for the future
The “Respec” feature, with which you can reset and redistribute the selected talents, is also very popular with the community.
According to the developers, this has already been programmed, but is currently being put through its paces in order to deliver it as error-free as possible.
If everything goes smoothly, the update with the new feature should be released next week.
