Icarus – New expansion “New Frontiers” will be released in August

Survival game Icarus is getting a big expansion, which should be released in August.
Here is everything we know so far about Icarus: New Frontiers.

What’s in Icarus: New Frontiers?

• New Map: The expansion will feature an all-new map that also brings three new biomes – a volcanic area, the swampland and the grassland
• Weather Events: there will be new extreme weather events for each biome that match the biome’s conditions.
• New mutated alien creatures: There will be more than 10 new mutated alien creatures. Here, terraforming has not led to extinction but to mutations.
• New Story Missions: Six new story missions continue to tell the story of Icarus.
• Starting missions from the game world: You should now be able to start missions from the open world.
• New Items: Over 100 new items to craft, set up and use. Including five new resources and new crafting tiers – Obsidian, Scoria, Crystallized Miasma and more.
• New Exotic: There will be a new red exotic mineral available only in the expansion.
• New Items in the Workshop: The new Exotic can be spent on over 30 new items in the Workshop.

Icarus: New Frontiers is scheduled for release on Steam on August 24, 2023.

Plans after the release

After the release of New Frontiers, Icarus will continue to receive regular updates.
Players who only own the main game will also be able to enjoy some new features, and Icarus will “continue to grow” here as well, according to the DayZ creator’s studio.

The “Hypatia” update, for example, will also expand the main game with the option to start missions from the open world and not only from the space station.

Also, it will probably be possible to join a New Frontiers game session if you don’t own the expansion yourself.
