At the beginning of October, the new Tide of Corruption event was launched in Hunt: Showdown. A new “wildcard” weather condition was introduced, which is now only available on weekends.
This step was not well received by the community and was met with disapproval.

Dark Inferno only on weekends

The “Dark Inferno” is the event weather condition where parts of the map are set on fire. The fire cuts off certain paths and creates artificial bottlenecks that do not exist on the normal map.
Since the first trailer, the fire was also officially part of the new event.

After the inferno was only always available at the start of the event, but in a separate contract and thus optional, Crytek has now decided to activate the new weather condition only on weekends.
From Monday morning to Friday morning, the Inferno is no longer available in the game at all – over the weekend, the wildcard contract with the Inferno is then playable – and thus only active at all on three days of the week.

Crytek has so far remained silent about the reasons for this decision.

Criticism from the community

The decision was received negatively and criticized by the community on all channels. Many question why an event feature is first teased for weeks, why three map variants are created and even why a pact is laid out for it, and then it is restricted in such a way.
Especially players who only come to play through the week feel disadvantaged by the change.

As an alternative, the merging of all possible weather conditions – including wildcard – in the week is mentioned, if too strongly separated player numbers in the different contracts should be the reason.

Whether and how the developers will comment on the latest decision and whether it remains with the established schedule now remains to be seen.

Update – Crytek publishes event survey

In the meantime, Crytek has published a survey in which they ask you about pretty much all aspects of the event and also about general game topics.
Among them are questions that explicitly refer to the separation of contracts and the Dark Inferno.
