In a new livestream, the developers of Hunt: Showdown have presented the contents of the upcoming update 1.13.
Among them are a shooting range game mode to try out and train, a lot of weapon adjustments and other balancing changes.
Contents
Shooting range
The shooting range is supposed to be a way to try out weapons and loadouts. You’ll be able to join the new mode simply from the main menu, where you’ll be able to play both with and against other players.
Five areas
For the shooting range, the Fort Carmick location has been converted and includes five test areas where different weapons and items can be tried out:
- Test area for short range
- Test area for medium distance
- Test area for high distance
- Test area for throwing items
- Test area for the penetration of weapons
Weapons & Possibilities
There are weapon boxes scattered throughout the area that you can help yourself to. In addition, there are abilities that affect weapons – for example, levering – which can also be easily learned via the item.
Of course, there is also enough ammunition.
By the way, all level restrictions do not apply for the test period.
Dummies are available as targets, they have 150 health points (like a hunter) and reset themselves after 3 seconds.
In this special game mode, new indicators are also available, such as damage and ping distance.
Coop & PvP
If you want, you can play with up to two friends in a team or as a single player against other hunters and practice PvP combat.
You will also benefit from the special respawn mechanics of the shooting range mode, because you have the choice:
- Respawn directly at the point of death with full life.
- Respawn nearby with full life and full consumable items.
By the way, everything that happens in the shooting range mode does not affect the regular game or your stats.
Tutorial improvements
The tutorial for getting started in Hunt: Showdown, introduced in the last patch, has been reworked and improved again:
- Hints are now displayed until the next hint is triggered.
- Custom key bindings are now also taken into account in the tutorial.
Time for quest series expires
The Billy Story and Stalker Beetle quest lines will receive a timer and will be available and completeable from the update until September 14, 2023 at 12pm UTC.
Quickplay becomes Soul Survivor
The single-player mode Quickplay will get a new name and will then be called Soul Survivor starting with update 1.13.
The name was only meant as a placeholder and since the last survivor has this title, the new name is of course fitting.
Important bugfixes
- Legendary items are no longer purchased when they are selected in a preset loadout and one of these items is found in the inventory.
- The ammo reserve display should now show the correct values.
- Fixed a bug that made some windows indestructible.
- Throwing axes and throwing knives are no longer destroyed when something they are attached to disappears.
Ammo changes
New ammo replenishment system
The current ammo replenishment system is based on a percentage system, which is based on the ammo supply of the weapon.
The new upcoming system will dispense a fixed number of bullets to the player depending on the ammo type.
If you have multiple ammo types equipped, you will receive supplies of each ammo type.
Ammo changes for two identical weapons
Carrying two of the same weapon (“Dual Wield”) will no longer dispense double ammo to the player when replenishing at an ammo box or other sources.
Other ammunition changes
- Fire ammo will now immediately set players on fire if you are within the range where there is no damage drop yet.
- Larger calibers continue to fly until damage drops off
- The Salveskin ability prevents you from being on fire on the first hit.
- Ammo boxes are now unlocked at rank 1.
- DumDum ammo twisted with the medium caliber now causes heavy bleeding.
- The extra ammo for Explosive ammo is matched (increased) to that of the other ammo types.
- Extra ammo for all Krag variants has been increased from 6 to 8 bullets.
Bomblance with two ammunition types
The explosive lance can now hold two ammo types for its fired bolts, though this also reduces the ammo pool per type.
Balancing changes

- Sticky Bombs: Sticky bombs are now deadly to players in a larger radius.

When is Update 1.13 coming?
The test servers for update 1.13 for Hunt: Showdown are supposed to be opened soon, also another video about upcoming economy changes in the game and another event have been announced.
Currently, a time frame of 2-3 weeks (shortly after the end of the current quest series) seems realistic, but this is just an estimate.
