When something is successful, it is copied and inspires the competition. This was already the case with the rise of survival games with Minecraft and DayZ, and it was also common practice in the case of Battle Royale and PUBG.
Now we’ve arrived at extraction games with fantasy settings – and the industry is taking inspiration from Dark and Darker.

The first candidate whose inspiration is unmistakable is called Greed is Good, which recently completed its first playtest.

Greed is Good – the first Dark and Darker clone?

If you look at the game’s Steam page and the first videos, you might really think you’re watching a video for Dark and Darker at first.

Because Greed is Good is also a fantasy dungeon crawler. Here, too, you choose a class like Fighter, Wizard or Ranger and plunge into a dungeon.
Against monsters that look very familiar – skeletons, skeleton warriors, skeleton archers, zombies, ghouls, spiders.

And here, too, the playing field gradually shrinks and you have to try to survive against the monsters, other players and time and escape from the dungeon with as much loot as possible.

Some could claim that Greed is Good is a “brazen” clone that copies everything.
However, Dark and Darker is also based to a large extent on content from the Asset Store – and then the similarities are hardly surprising.

Dark and Darker was also confronted several times with the accusation that it had copied the game idea and assets from a project at the publisher Nexon, which eventually led to the removal from Steam, several legal proceedings and the Early Access release externally on its own launcher.

More Information

Who is behind the game?

However, there is one thing that the community is probably rightly pondering: who is behind Greed is Good?
The developer and publisher is “The Fool’s Studio” – but the game itself also mentions “Flame Dragon Limited”. Information about them are rare to non existant
A website is missing, as well as the possibility to contact the developers.

Some suspect an imitator from the Far East, others even believe it is the original “Project P3” from Nexon, which is now to be brought to the market under cover.

Our attempts to contact the developers have been unsuccessful so far, but we will of course stay on the case for you.
