Escape from Tarkov – You will unlock this silenced sniper after only one quest

At the start of a new Escape from Tarkov wipe, the weapon options are limited. This is especially true for the wipe to update 0.13.5, as some ammo types, weapons, and attachments are only available at higher merchant levels and/or after completing a few quests.

If you are looking for a good option for medium to long distances that has remained quite untouched by the recent balancing changes and is also available after only a single quest at merchant level 1, you should read on.

Sniper with silencer right at the start of the wipe

We’re talking about the VPO-215, a sniper rifle that you can play very early on for a moderate price.
The only hurdle you have to overcome to get access to the weapon is unlocking the trader Jaeger via a short quest.

To do this, you have to reach level 2 with your character and then pick up an item from the Woods map.

Weapon configuration

Once you’ve done that, you can buy the following parts together:

ItemSourcePrice
WeaponVPO-215 "Gornostay"Jaeger Level 1₽ 18.585
Scope-Mount
UTG 25mmJaeger Level 1₽ 1.733
ScopePilad 4x32Jaeger Level 1₽ 15.192
Surpressor
(optional)
R43 .366TKMSkier Level 1₽ 28.784
MagazineVPO215 4-Round MagazineJaeger Level 1₽ 1.260

The silencer is optional at this point, but allows you to work more concealed.
(Note that you have to remove the “215 Cap” from the muzzle before you can attach it).

However, calculate with your demise with the fact that you will get him back rather rarely with the insurance.

Ammunition selection

Ammunition choices include the .366 TKM FMJ (23 penetration, 98 damage for ₽ 45 per shot) or the .366 TKM EKO (30 penetration, 73 damage for ₽ 69 per shot).
Due to the higher bullet velocity, we would advise you to go for the .366 TKM EKO.

You should also remember to take some spare magazines and/or enough ammo with you, because one magazine of the weapon holds just four rounds.

As a sniper rifle, the weapon is of course very well suited for raids on Woods and Shoreline, since you often fight at longer distances here than on Customs, for example.
