In a new event in Escape from Tarkov you can bring your negative karma back into real positive numbers.
We have compiled all the information for you!

Bring your scav karma into positive

Especially during the Christmas event, many players downplayed their karma value. This was mainly due to the two Santa Claus NPCs, which were difficult to distinguish from normal scavs.

As a result, Chief Developer Nikita Buyanov asked several times about players’ scav karma values to get an idea and hinted at a way to improve their karma value again.

To give players a chance to get out of the negative numbers, there are now several quests from scav trader Fence as part of an event.

You will only see these quests if you already have a negative scav karma value – otherwise they will not be available to you.

Quests with Karma Rewards

The following quests are available:

  • Collect PMC dog tags
  • Turn in 2 M4A1s with “Found in Raid” status
  • Score PMC kills with AK variants
  • Turn in Whiskey and TarCola with the status “Found in Raid
  • Turn in money

How long the quests will be available in the game, not known. However, it can be assumed that they will be active at least over the weekend.

The event was announced through a letter that the developers published on Twitter. It states:

Rijiy, you got really lucky. You dont have to hide all the time. There is a way to get out from fence’s blacklist, it is like amnesty but better. But there is one thing. As I got told, you would have to work for somebody. I dont know what they mean by it.

Also now both bears and usecs can get their reputation back. And I dont agree with it at all, you killed Purgen by accident!

You should have a way to get karma back. But those PMCs killing our boys all the time. Anyway, go visit fence while it is still possible.

Effects of negative scav karma

But why is negative scav karma bad anyway?

Well, when you get below a threshold, it has negative effects on various aspects of the game.
Your scav’s kit gets worse, you have less extraction points as a scav, and other AI scavs open fire immediately.

But karma also has an effect on raids with your PMC, because it increases the prices for auto-extractions quite a bit and the prices Fence offers you for otherwise unsellable items decreases.
