Recently, the DayZ Experimental Update 1.23 was released, which among other things brings some extensive changes in parts of the map.
This leads to a wipe at the official release – and you can also currently play on special test servers.
Map wipe at update release
As soon as the update 1.23 moves from the experimental branch to the official servers, there will be a map wipe, which will reset all placed buildings and items on the maps.
However, your characters and their positions will not be affected, they will remain intact – and if you are in an area with structural changes, you will automatically be moved to a safe location when you log in.
This was announced by the developers of DayZ on Twitter today.
It is not yet known when update 1.23 will make the jump to the live servers.
Special test servers available
To shorten the waiting time for the stable release, you can of course help the developers test the new game version. Currently, there are special test servers that you can find in the experimental version.
Start the experimental version of update 1.23 and look in the server browser for servers named NWA – the abbreviation for North-West-Airfield, which is the area that will be heavily reworked with the update.
When you join these servers, you will spawn relatively close to the NWA, which is now officially called Vybor Air Base.
You’ll already start with some equipment – including a gun, ammo, a melee weapon, some equipment and some medical items.
In addition, the spawn rate for the new DMR weapons has been significantly increased.
So you can check out the revamped location and try out the new gun at the same time.
