Dark and Darker – New video shows further development progress

After there was a new sign of life from the Dark and Darker developers on Youtube and in the official Discord server just a few days ago, another video has now appeared, which shows further development progress of the game in action.

Despite the ongoing legal disputes, the developers of Dark and Darker have been anything but idle and show in a new video with further development progress. Unlike the first video since the last playtest, this time we go to the new map “The Ruins”.

Here you can see some new features on the map itself, there seems to be some new jump puzzles with loot waiting at the end – and also the vegetation on the map seems to have been adjusted – and the whole lighting of the game looks much better.

In addition, some other interesting news is shown. One of them is the “Luck Potion”, which will probably increase the chance of getting better loot.
However, there is no more detailed information about it.

Furthermore, it seems that the class “Warlock” is now available in the game. This can be read briefly in the tooltip when selecting the magic wand.

The next innovation concerns the traps of the game: Up to now you sat on the spot and realized when you stepped into a trap. According to these innovations, you can now move within a small radius around a small anchor to which the trap is attached by a chain.
To free yourself, you apparently have to release either the anchor or the trap itself.

The last interesting part is at the end of the video, where the team exits the map through a 3-man portal.

All in all, the development team seems to be very busy and making good progress. What exactly this means for a possible new playtest or even the Early Access release, however, is still unclear.

Recently, some documents about the upcoming court case surfaced, for which a hearing has apparently already taken place.
So far, however, nothing has come out of it that could be used to infer the future of Dark and Darker.
