Respawn Entertainment has unveiled the next hero for Apex Legends – Ballistic – with a new short film from the Tales from the Outlands series.
The Apex Games veteran comes out of retirement for a reason – and shows off his skills in the launch trailer.

Aged veteran back in the game

The film shows the once glamorous and eccentric Ballistic living a sad existence in his mansion. During his time in the Apex games, he was very focused on himself and maintained a very egotistical and publicized fighting style.
At some point, however, this led to the death of his brother-in-law and his estrangement from his own son.

Now, through a report on television, Ballistic learns that his son wants to compete in the Apex Games like he did – and takes this as an opportunity to come out of retirement.
Using “aggressive negotiation methods” (hostage-taking…), he arranges to return to the games himself in his son’s place, if he does not have to attend.

Launch trailer shows Ballistic in action

The launch trailer for upcoming season “Arsenal” is also dedicated to the new legend. It begins with Ballistic addressing his son, explaining why he does what he does.
But what’s much more interesting is that he seems to be showing off his skills in the process.

Among them seems to be a kind of stun shot that briefly paralyzes Legends, and an “autoloader” ability is also shown, with which he can probably reload very quickly for a limited time.

On the official Apex Legends website, he is described as a “Refined Gunslinger” and is placed in the “Assault” category.
Of course, the skills portrayed fit this image very well – and probably make Ballistic a good legend for offensive players.

The new season “Arsenal” of Apex Legends will start on May 9, 2023.
