Last weekend, TwitchCon took place, a trade show for streamers and fans on the streaming platform Twitch.
Escape from Tarkov developer Battlestate Games was also present and brought along the spin-off Escape from Tarkov: Arena, which was also playable for visitors.
Launch of the beta in December
There was also a first tournament in which some content creators from the Escape from Tarkov area competed against each other in teams – and of course broadcast live on Twitch.
During this livestream, chief developer Nikita Buyanov also revealed when the beta of Escape from Tarkov: Arena will finally be playable for everyone.
According to this, it should be at the beginning of December – but the CEO did not give an exact date.
From then on, everyone who either pre-orders the game directly or buys it then can play – or you own the Escape from Tarkov: Edge of Darkness Edition, the most expensive edition of the base game, which also includes access.
Will the release affect the next patch?
However, the new release date is not well received by everyone.
A release at the beginning of December probably also means that the already announced new wipe in the base game Escape from Tarkov will be postponed to mid to late December, a time that many would rather spend with friends and family than grinding in Tarkov.
Also, the developers’ focus on the spin-off is causing concerns that the next update might not be as substantial.
Whether the worries are justified or not remains to be seen.
Big plans for Arena
Originally, Arena was supposed to be released in the fall, but Battlestate Games probably couldn’t keep to that plan.
According to Buyanov, the version shown at TwitchCon also does not represent the current development status of the game.
The internal development version has kill cams, for example, and better spectator tools are also planned, tailored to an eSports future for the spin-off.
The CEO also revealed that the developer Battlestate Games is planning to organize its own eSports events, which will be based on the majors from Counter-Strike.
