The next part of the Stalker series, which is eagerly awaited by many fans, won’t be released in 2023, but that’s hardly surprising under the given circumstances.
Stalker 2 will not be released in 2023
Developer GSC Game World was present at this year’s gamescom and the first players were able to get an impression of the state of the game.
However, the developers have also published a “fact sheet“, which dates the release further back.
Stalker 2 was actually supposed to be released at the end of 2022 and was planned for the end of 2023 after a development stop.
The new targeted release is now in the first quarter of 2024, so sometime between January 1 and March 31, 2024.
Given the circumstances under which the Ukrainian development studio is developing its game, however, these delays are probably hardly surprising.
The war of aggression on Ukraine naturally affects the developers, some of whom have reported for military service.
In addition, the studio’s pro-Ukraine stance has already made it the target of cyber attacks several times, including the leaking of early builds.
The fact that development is continuing at all under these circumstances is admirable – and so the fans are keeping their fingers crossed for GSC Game World and of course hope that the new release target of early 2024 can be met.
