Survival game ARK: Survival Evolved is celebrating its eighth birthday – and of course there are new creatures for the players to mark the occasion.
New Creature: Rhyniognatha
The first new creature has already been announced, and it is Rhyniognatha. This giant insect seems to be a cross between a scorpion and a mantis and has some very useful abilities.
On the one hand, the animal produces fast-hardening resin that can be used as a protective armor or projectile, on the other hand, the insect can stand on water, dive very well and even fly.
Add to that its strength, which allows it to transport heavy objects around a base very well.
There is also a bit of alien in Rhyniognatha, as its pheromon marks animals and players as breeding targets, in which the females lay eggs that later break out of the host.
However, freezing them into a cryopod can help get rid of the larvae inside.
To get one, you will need to kill a male, give the pheromone to one of your animals, and then fight a female until she lays the eggs in your animal.
Be careful: the hatching of Rhyniognatha will kill your host animal!
You can find Rhyniognatha on The Island and Lost Island maps, where they make their home in the swamp.

Unveiling of Fasolasuchus
The second new creature was only freshly confirmed with the announcement and will only come into the game with the Unreal Engine 5 remake ARK: Survival Ascended.
The Fasolasuchus won in a community vote and will be found on the Scorched Earth map with the remake.
Criticism after remake plans
Recently, the developers from Studio Wildcard fell out of favor with the community. The Unreal Engine 5 remake ARK: Survival Ascended, which was announced as free, turned out to be an additional purchase and was only available in a bundle with ARK 2, which has been postponed until at least the end of 2024.
The planned shutdown of the official servers and the lack of updates also caused trouble.
After harsh criticism from the community, Studio Wildcard presented alternative plans, according to which the remake can be purchased individually.
The servers will still be shut down and the update that brought Rhyniognatha into the game will probably be the last new content for ARK: Survival Evolved.
