In less than ten days, after a very long wait, we can finally expect the release of Dead Island 2.
Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have now revealed the system requirements and also answered some feature questions in a technical FAQ.

Dead Island 2 – PC System Requirements

Many users have already noted on social media that the game’s requirements seem a bit high.

Others say that the bumpy road with several developer changes to development hell and back must first show whether and how the game will run at launch.

The following requirements should be met by your system so that you can play Dead Island 2:

Minimum – 1080p @ 30 FPS

  • CPU: AMD FX-9590 or Intel Core i7 7700HQ
  • RAM: 10GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 480 or GeForce GTX 1060
  • Free hard drive space: 70GB

Recommended – 1080p @ 60 FPS

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i9 9900K
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 Super
  • Free hard drive space: 70GB

High – 1440p @ 60 FPS

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or Intel Core i5 12600KF
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT or GeForce RTX 3070
  • Free hard drive space: 70GB

Ultra – 4k @ 60 FPS

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel Core i7 13700K

The most important info from the FAQ

  • Co-op mode
    • You can play the game with 3 players in co-op mode
  • Crossplay
    • No crossplay is supported
  • No NVIDIA DLSS?
    • Dead Island 2 is supposed to support AMD’s FSR2 and FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, but there is no mention of NVIDIA DLSS.
  • Streamer mode
    • There will be a streamer mode where all licensed music (except the intro!) will be blocked.
  • FPS on consoles
    • PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X|S – 60 FPS
    • PlayStation 4/Xbox One – 30 FPS

However, it is unclear according to the technical FAQ why NVIDIA DLSS is apparently seen as “performance boosting software” and does not support it, but AMD FSR is supported on the other hand.

The questions will probably be finally answered on April 21 at the latest, when Dead Island 2 is released on the PC in the Epic Games Store.
